Here’s how
First remove coarse rust and dirt from the damaged area. Sand off the old paintwork and clean the undercoat with MoTip Degreaser before continuing.
The undercoat must be clean, dry and free of grease. Then level out the uneven areas with presto Fine Filler and fill in the scratch. Take the required amount of filler from the tin and mix it thoroughly with approximately 2-4 % hardener. Leave it to dry for about 30 minutes and then wet sand it with 600-grit sandpaper. Clean off any sanding dust with MoTip Degreaser.
Cover the surrounding area with masking tape. Pre-treat the area with MoTip Primer to ensure perfect adhesion for the subsequent paintwork. Apply several thin layers of primer. Let it dry for about 2 hours and then sand with presto 1000-grit wet sandpaper. Once again, clean the undercoat with MoTip Degreaser.
Now the lacquer with the corresponding colour from the MoTip Kompakt system can be applied in several thin layers. In order to make sure it blends in to the original paintwork, mist it within the covered area. Once the metal-effect lacquer has dried for 30 minute, it must be sealed with 2-Coat Clear Lacquer. Otherwise the aluminium particles in the metallic lacquer will be damaged by environmental and weather conditions.
Once the clear lacquer has hardened (about 2 hours), remove the masking tape. Wipe the undercoat with a clean, dry cloth. Last, but not least, we recommend using MoTip Spot Blender to ensure a smooth blend effect from the old to the new paintwork.
